Prekallikrein (Fletcher Factor), human
Description
Prekallikrein (PK), also known as Fletcher factor, is a serine protease that complexes with high-molecular-weight kininogen. Prekallikrein is the zymogen form of plasma kallikrein, which is a serine protease that activates kinins. It is cleaved to produce kallikrein by activated Factor XII (Hageman factor).
Preparation
The protein was purified from human plasma that was tested and found negative by FDA accepted methods for anti-HIV1/2, anti-HTLV I & II, HBsAg, anti-HCV, Syphilis, HBC Ab, HIV-1 p24 Ag or HIV-1 RNA, HCV RNA and HBV RNA. Donors are screened for CJD (Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease).
Molecular Weight
About 86 kDa. Extinction Coefficient (1%) = 11.7
Purity
The protein is >95% pure as judged by SDS-PAGE gels and shows no reduction upon incubation with 2-mercaptoethanol.
Specific Activity
The activity has been determined via clotting assay. See vial label for lot specific activity.
Presentation
1 vial containing 1.0 mg protein lyophilized in 4 mM Sodium Acetate, 0.15 M Sodium Chloride, pH 5.3. The concentration before lyophilization is indicated on the vial label.
Reconstitution
We recommend reconstituting the vial to the original volume with filtered deionized water.
Storage
Store lyophilized vial at 2 - 8°C. After reconstitution store frozen at -70°C. It is recommended to avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
